Call to Order by Cindy Nelson, Co-chair 1st VP Programs, at 12:34 P.M.

Welcome to new members and guests.

Announcements

We are seeking a new Needle Arts president, as Christine has stepped down.
We thanked her for her service to the club.

Business:

The minutes from the last general meeting on January 13, 2026, were approved by the members as posted.

The 2026 Proposed Budget was approved by the membership.
  • A vote for new treasurer was held. Robin Yount was voted in as Sun City Lincoln Hills Needle Arts Club Treasurer unanimously by club members.
  • Sun City Lincoln Hills Needle Arts Club is removing Sandi Sherwood as key executive from the Wells Fargo Business Account and adding Robin Yount as new key executive for the Wells Fargo Business Account.
Reports
Community Service, Bev and Clareen: We received a thank you note from Loomis Basin Christmas Basket program. The quilts, hats and scarves we provided were all taken.
Membership, Bev Jones:
  • We currently have 144 members.
  • Renewals are still being accepted, although the January 31st deadline has passed.
  • Membership is required to participate in the breakout groups.
Retreats/Sewing Room, Pat Barnhill:
  • The January In-house retreat was a success.
  • The next spring Mercy Retreat on April 20 - 23 needs 8 more people to sign up for the retreat to happen.
Social Chair, Cindy Nelson: Paper ballots were passed for members to choose a preference of venue for our Spring Luncheon. The choice was between the Ballroom on Wed. May 13 or the Sports Pavillion on our regular meeting day, Tues. May 12.

Window Display, Fran Swart:
  • March will display baby quilts made by community service to be given to Beale AFB.
  • Please put your name on the back of items you give to Fran to put in the window so she can easily return them to their owners.

Workshops, Leslie Sheets:
  • Leslie will teach the Wednesday Feb. 18th workshop on making vinyl bags and the tricks to do it.
  • Sandy Woods will teach a workshop on March 18 to sew a reversible apron which is also sizeable because of rings with straps. The apron takes 2 yards of fabric and is very simple. It was suggested that each student make an extra apron to be sold at the Craft Fair.

Program
Joyce Clark, Co-chair 1st VP Programs, introduced our guest presenter, Donna Seaman, who is the owner of Auburn Needleworks. Donna shared some of the difficulties of continuing a storefront operation, such as trouble getting supplies and large companies buying up the small yarn suppliers. She shared some of the store’s yarns and their various uses by type of yarn in knitting, crocheting, and weaving.

Show and Tell:  Six members shared a variety of needle arts projects they had made, from a child’s owl bag for the craft fair to quilts to beaded jewelry and purses.

The meeting was adjourned by Cindy Nelson at 1:11 P.M.
